William D. Smith, D.Phil.
Bill is president of Dresher Group Inc. which specializes in developing and delivering curriculum related to:
negotiation, leadership, communication, decision-making, project management, inter-cultural management, quality management,
and conflict resolution.
In association with ESI, Bill developed the following courses:
- Advanced Leadership Course for Project Managers for IBM. This course is globally deployed.
- Negotiation Skills for Novartis Pharma world headquarters located in Basel, Switzerland, and
- Negotiation Skills for Project Managers for ESI.
Also in association with ESI, Dr. Smith recently updated the Leadership in a Project Team Environment course for IBM.
As an Associate with Otto Kroeger Associates, Dr. Smith conducts workshops to qualify professionals to administer the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and workshops on Inter-Cultural Management
Since 1993, Bill has conducted numerous MBTI workshops with groups at all levels from community volunteers to senior vice presidents of Fortune 500 companies.
Dr. Smith is also adjunct faculty and master instructor for ESI International. He has over 26 years of experience in leadership, management, project management, strategic planning, change management, education, and team building.
Dr. Smith played key roles in numerous high-level projects, including:
- restructuring the Total Quality Management office for Air Force One Headquarters
- managing a redesign and renovation construction project for a medical facility, and
- directing an organizational self-assessment using Malcolm Baldridge criteria.
He has also been a key-note speaker for international conferences on project management and business development addressing topics ranging from managing organizational politics, overcoming objections during sales, and teaching in multi-cultural settings.
Dr. Smith holds a Doctor of Philosophy (D.Phil.) in Religion and Society Studies, with an emphasis in Leadership, from Oxford Graduate School, where his dissertation received the Oxford Chancellor's Honor Award. He also holds a Masters in Adult Education from Troy State University in Alabama, and a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the University of Delaware.
